Tri Star Godzilla Sculpture
Got this photo of a fully painted Tri Star Godzilla 1998 sculpture I did back in 1998.
I was painted by the very talented Jim Lawrence, and includes the large base with multiple eggs and baby Zillas.
I sculpted this giant in super sculpey over a very detailed wire armature over the course of two months.
Not crazy about the movie, but the creature design by Patrick Tatopoulos is pretty nifty. This was one of a couple Godzilla product sculpts
I did in 98 in conjunction with the film. This one was to be a styrene model kit released by Polar Lights/Playing Mantis. The sculpt ended up too
detailed and the factory had trouble replicating all the textures and forms. The film was also deemed a financial and critical failure, (though this has subsequently been
found to be false as far as the financial side)so the kit was cancelled.
At roughly 29 inches wide and about 17 high, it still remains as one of my proudest sculptural achievements.
