Tri Star Godzilla Sculpture

Got this photo of a fully painted Tri Star Godzilla 1998 sculpture I did back in 1998. I was painted by the very talented Jim Lawrence, and includes the large base with multiple eggs and baby Zillas. I sculpted this giant in super sculpey over a very detailed wire armature over the course of two months. Not crazy about the movie, but the creature design by Patrick Tatopoulos is pretty nifty. This was one of a couple Godzilla product sculpts I did in 98 in conjunction with the film. This one was to be a styrene model kit released by Polar Lights/Playing Mantis. The sculpt ended up too detailed and the factory had trouble replicating all the textures and forms. The film was also deemed a financial and critical failure, (though this has subsequently been found to be false as far as the financial side)so the kit was cancelled. At roughly 29 inches wide and about 17 high, it still remains as one of my proudest sculptural achievements.

Somewhere Out In Space Live The Herculoids

Was invited to participate in a gallery show at the Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, California on June 12th. The show's theme is the history of The Cartoon Network studios, and is called: From Hanna Barberra to Cartoon Network. Pretty cool, right? You know what is cooler? Being able to pick your favorite cartoon of all time from the vast array of titles in the Hanna Barberra library for the subject of your piece. Here it is, my tribute to the first family of the planet Quasar. 15 by 30 inches, acrylic on canvas board.

Hellboy:Smokin The Old One

Did this acrylic painting for the Hellboy 20th Anniversary Show at the Hero Complex Gallery in Los Angeles. This was part of a tribute exhibit of over 100 artists works celebrating the history of Mike Mignola's Hellboy character. This show was officially sanctioned by the man himself, and he attended the show as well. Thanks to curator Chogrin Munoz for the invitation. Loved working on this!

Rotten Rexx:Radiated Rexx

Howdy! Been neglecting blog posts in favor of instagram posts. Gonna try to rectify that, and start getting some things up here. I did this paint up of Rotten Rexx for Designer Con in Pasadena. It was damaged and I finally got around to fixing it, and am preparing it for its trip back to Lullubell Toys and into the hands of some happy collector. Will be posting some more photos soon, since I am in the midst of doing a paint master of RR for a future Lullubell release.
